Elwick Parish Council

Parish Plan

The Parish Council has produced a 5-year plan, 2021-2026, which provides residents with an overall idea of what Councillors hope to achieve during the period. The Plan is updated every year and, when the need arises, is amended during the year in response to changing circumstances. As well as the Parish Plan, the Council has an Action Plan, designed to enable improved monitoring of the Parish Plan delivery; to see the Action Plan. click on the link in the Parish Plan.

ELWICK PARISH PLAN   2021 – 2026

Over the next 5 years the Parish Council will:

  • Continue to maintain the village greens, whilst responding to climate change and the needs of the natural environment by allowing designated areas of grass to grow uncut to provide sanctuary and nectar for insects.
  • Complete the renovation of the Wildlife Garden to provide a place of peace and tranquillity for both the natural world and residents.
  • Add additional stones around the village greens to prevent damage by vehicular traffic.
  • Continue to maintain, and refurbish as necessary, the benches around the village.
  • Provide regular social activities for the parish, such as the Annual Fete, Gig on the Green and other activities suggested by residents of the parish.
  • Install CCTV to monitor the Playing Field car park in order to reduce theft of equipment from the Playing Field.
  • Continue to manage the trees on land belonging to the village.
  • Complete a digital map of Elwick village, identifying all Parish Council assets, and land and trees in public ownership.
  • Deliver appropriate celebratory events for the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee.
  • Install a traditional red telephone box on the village green, to become a free book and jigsaw exchange.
  • Continue to maintain, and install seating in, the bus shelter on the village green.
  • Continue to maintain and improve the play equipment on the Playing Field.
  • Initiate regular social drop-in coffee morning and evening events, to provide villagers with an opportunity to interact and combat loneliness.
  • Build a register of volunteers in the village, who will undertake minor maintenance and provide support with social events, to build on the community spirit developed during the Covid 19 pandemic.
  • Continue to require the Borough Council to maintain the village infrastructure adequately, and in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor the Plan by working to an Action Plan.
